I’m glad they got Jude to grow a beard for this. Also, this seems to not be quite as light-hearted as the first based on the posters. The Obscurus plot line was obviously pretty dark, but almost all of the trailers and publicity were generally lighter. Doesn’t seem to be the case here.

So the deathly hallows are important – that’s the symbol right?

  3. OriginalReet March 14, 2018 / 10:43 am

All I’m thinking is how close they are to touchings tips.

  4. riegspsych325 March 14, 2018 / 10:43 am

Well, Jude Law can certainly pull off a beard. I think he’s a great choice for Dumbledore, though. I can see him channel more Richard Harris than Michael Gambon

I do wonder why they stuck with the Fantastic Beasts angle for this. I mean, obviously sticking with the brand name and that, but the intention apparently is to gradually phase out Newt to focus on Dumbledore – so I wonder why not just start a new series? Young Dumbledore is pretty marketable.

  6. KatanaAmerica March 14, 2018 / 10:43 am

Dumbledore was hot af apparently. Look at that magnificent beard!

  7. janiqua March 14, 2018 / 10:43 am

Is Newt Scamander even going to be relevant to the plot? They should have just done Harry Potter anthology stories because I can’t see how ‘fantastic beasts’ will be tied to the Dumbledore and Grindelwald story.

  8. enlou March 14, 2018 / 10:43 am

Am I alone in thinking the first installment of this series was rather boring? It just could not keep my attention. And I looooved the HP series.

  9. rocker2014 March 14, 2018 / 10:43 am

That is badass! Can’t wait for this one

  10. semifraki March 14, 2018 / 10:43 am

Harry Potter: Attack of the Clones.

  11. captionquirk March 14, 2018 / 10:43 am

The true crime is wasting all of Collin Farrell’s good looks on a throwaway character.

We could have seen some steamy Farrell/Law tension eventually but now my dick is shrinking just thinking of falling in love with Depp

  12. kappa23 March 14, 2018 / 10:43 am

Man this movie could be really interesting but I’m kinda concerned that Scamander is gonna be shoehorned into it because they introduced him in the first movie

  13. timidGO March 14, 2018 / 10:43 am

Is it wrong that I expected a young Dumbledore to have at least a foot long beard

  14. UnknownJ25 March 14, 2018 / 10:43 am

That Jude Law Dumbledore is a 10/10, loving it. Also I’m excited to see some more Deathly Hallows stuff in this film. Maybe we will get Grindelwald getting the elder wand

  15. PowerfulWarbird March 14, 2018 / 10:43 am

I haven’t seen the first one, and don’t know much about this, so can someone tell me what Newt Scamander has to do with Grindelwald? They were never mentioned in the same context in the books, and it just seems silly to make a movie series titled “Fantastic Beasts” if it’s going to be about Dumbledore vs Grindelwald.

  16. k-murda13 March 14, 2018 / 10:43 am

Why would newt be apart of a movie based on grindelwald? Isn’t he just a magical beast collector?

  17. elchivo83 March 14, 2018 / 10:43 am

How generic. I feel like I’ve seen this poster a thousand times.

  18. paulerxx March 14, 2018 / 10:43 am

I thought the first one was decent, in the new Star Wars / The Hobbit sort of way. Good, but not nearly as *great* as it once was.

  19. ImSuperObjective2 March 14, 2018 / 10:43 am

We’re at the second movie already and this Fantastic Beasts franchise has almost nothing to do with Fantastic Beasts, I don’t even.

Where are the beasts in that poster? If you say “in the suitcase” prepare to get smacked.

  20. munkijunk March 14, 2018 / 10:43 am

    ughhhh Johnny fucking Depp

  21. CollumMcJingleballs March 14, 2018 / 10:43 am

They can make it even more Harry Pottery and make it a portmandeau title: Fantastic Beasts and the Crimdalwald

  22. IAmBellpepper March 14, 2018 / 10:43 am

Anyone else think “The Crimes of Gellard Grindelwald” would have been a better title? :/
    Sounds smoother to me

  23. TVPaulD March 14, 2018 / 10:43 am

This franchise makes no sense. This project was a lot more appealing when it was a series of spin-offs instead of a prequel saga with a stealth pilot masquerading as a spin-off the carcass of whose premise is now being dragged along by the interminably tedious series narrative (a narrative which was already sufficiently explored as backstory in the original series no less). Hell, the “Fantastic Beasts” concept was already demoted to B-Plot in its own damn movie – that’s taking artefact title to a whole new level.

Five. There’s five of these bloody things. Three more after this one we haven’t even seen yet. And that’s if they don’t “come to realise that to really do the final chapter justice, we need to split it into two movies” (they will).

  24. imjoeycusack March 14, 2018 / 10:43 am

My interest in this film has now doubled. Time to watch the trailer!

  25. johns945 March 14, 2018 / 10:43 am

    What terrible hair Eddie has.

  26. Cronman_420 March 14, 2018 / 10:43 am

Is it me or does the background look like the deathly hollows?

  27. nuff_said101 March 14, 2018 / 10:43 am

does anyone think the movie is just unwatchable because of the dude’s face? like it bothered me so much I couldn’t watch it.

  28. MaxialstarOA March 14, 2018 / 10:43 am

It seems that they cut out Johny Depp from the poster. Kinda feels that he was meant to be on the right and they want to avoid controversy.

  29. LouQuacious March 14, 2018 / 10:43 am

I couldn’t figure out plot in last one just seemed to be an endless string of really loud CGI scenes strung together.

  30. 2DamnBig March 14, 2018 / 10:43 am

Man I was done with these films when they cast Johnny “can’t stop being Jack Sparrow” Depp as Grindelwald.

  31. atrf1788 March 14, 2018 / 10:43 am

    Wow, this looks awesome.

  32. BComplex March 14, 2018 / 10:43 am

I’m guessing there is going to be an abused orphan in this, J. K. Rowling loves abused orphans.

  33. LucaBGT March 14, 2018 / 10:43 am

The whole thing becomes a whole less serious when you consider that the villain‘s name is „Grindelwald“.

  34. ThiefNo56 March 14, 2018 / 10:43 am

I still want him to be The Doctor….

  35. Graybush89 March 14, 2018 / 10:43 am

Totally thought this said ‘Fantastic Breasts’.

  36. willyolio March 14, 2018 / 10:43 am

Fantastic beasts: we couldn’t write an interesting movie about beasts so here’s Grindelwald!

  37. ghostofmedic March 14, 2018 / 10:43 am

“The crimes of Grindelwald” more like “why we should allow muggles to genocide magic folk”.

You muggle-friends make absolutely no sense to me. You live a comfortable life thanks to magic. Your food, education, entertainment – it’s all magic. What about your own kind do you despise so much? Do you get the papers? Everyday another witch or wizard savagely murdered by muggles. When will enough be enough?

Join the Death Eater Society and help us restore magic to its former glory! Grindelwald did nothing wrong!

  38. lridge March 14, 2018 / 10:43 am

Pretty lame. Almost 20 years since the first Harry Potter poster, and we can’t even touch the magic that one had.
