Yeah, cool, but, when are they going to accept the fact that there’s plenty of all kinds of racism happening in Canada? White, black, asian…doesn’t matter what color you are, where you come from, what you breathe, what you speak, there’s some form of injustice done upon another in the right circumstances.

How bout we stop pointing specific assholes, and just address the core of the problem. Education, lack there-of, mentality, laws, politicians…

How people fall for such blatant pandering is beyond me.

I read this headline and thought, “That must be a misquote, nobody is that stupid.”

    > “Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says it’s time Canadians acknowledge that racism and unconscious bias against black people exist in this country.”

    Sweet Jesus. He’s serious.

Canada apparently has been living in the 1930’s this entire time. Who knew?

    > “Trudeau also said it’s time the House of Commons — “the heart of our democracy” — looked more like the composition of Canadian society, including more black MPs.”

Oh, he’s using this to push affirmative action.

    >He called for action to ensure equal opportunity and treatment of the more than one million black Canadians, including doing more to recruit and elect black members of Parliament.

He’s been the leader of the liberal party for a half decade now (or more I honestly don’t care enough to google it). What has he done in those years to “recruit and elect black members of Parliament?”

Or is he saying the LPC was a racist organization and now they’re fixing it?

Serious question: What has Trudeau done so far about the Canadian-Iranian that killed himself in prison?

While I do agree there’s a unconscious bias going on here, how do you stop it? It’s not like you can drill into someone’s subconscious which is formed by years of socialization and pick parts out. It’s practically impossible.

Here I take my hat off to him. Before him, the house of commons was like a country club.
